Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) said, Our property will not be inherited, whatever we (i.e. the Prophet ﷺ) leave is Sadaqa (to be used for charity). He used to spend the yearly expenses of his family out of this property which Allâh bestowed upon him as Far (i.e. booty gained without fighting). The remaining he used to keep to spend on Allâh's Cause. He then asked the companions of (Prophet ﷺ) who were present saying, I ask you by Allâh, with Whose Permission the heavens and earth exist, do you know this?". They replied in the affirmative. In this gathering there were:, 'Abbâs ' Uthmân, Abdur Rahmân bin ' Auf, Zubair and Sa'ad bin Abi. (See for details No. 326, Vol. 4, Sahih Al-Bukhâri). [4:326-O.B]
