19. The Book of Tahajjud (Prayer)

مختصر صحيح البخاري

2/14 Chapter: The Statement of Allâh: But, if they repent and perform Iqâmat-As-Salat [offer (prayers) perfectly] and give Zakât [1] then leave their way free." (V. 9:5).
باب: فَإِنْ تَابُوا وَأَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ وآتَوُا الزَّكَاةَ فَخَلُّوا سَبِيلَهُمْ
[1] Zakât: A certain fixed proportion of the wealth and of the each and every kind of the property liable to Zaltht of a Muslim to be paid yearly for the benefit of the poor in the Muslim community. The payment of Zakát is obligatory as it is one of the five pillars of Islam. Zakát is the major economic means for establishing social justice and leading the Muslim society to prosperity and security. [See Sahih Al-Bukhári, Vol. 2, Book of Zakát (24)].

وَعَنْهَا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّهَا سُئلت : عن صَلَاتِهِ فِي رَمَضَانَ؟ فَقَالَتْ : مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ (ﷺ) يَزِيدُ فِي رَمَضَانَ وَلَا غَيْرِهِ عَلَى إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً، يُصَلِّي أَرْبَعًا، فَلَا تَسْأَلْ عَنْ حُسْنِهِنَّ وَطُولِهِنَّ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي أَرْبَعًا، فَلاَ تَسْأَلْ عَنْ حُسْنِهِنَّ وَطُولِهِنَّ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي ثَلاثًا . قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ، أَتَنامُ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُوتِرَ؟ فَقَالَ: (يَا عائِشَةُ، إِنَّ عَيْنَيَّ تَنَامَانِ وَلَا يَنَامُ قَلْبِي).

Narrated Abu Salama bin 'Abdur-Rahman

I asked 'Aisha about the Salât (prayer) of Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) uring the month of Ramaḍân. She said, Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) lever exceeded eleven Rak'at in Ramaḍân or in other months; he used to offer four Rak'at do not ask me about their-beauty and length, then four Rak‘at, do not ask me about their beauty_and length, and then three Rak'at. Āisha further said, "I said, O Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ)! Do you sleep before offering the Witr prayer? He replied, 'O 'Aisha ! My eyes sleep but my heart remains awake ! [2:248-0.B.]
