Musnad Ahmed: Hadith 3415

We were invited to a meal and Sa'eed bin Jubair and Miqsam the freed slave of Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنه) were among us. When the food was served, Sa'eed said: Have you all heard that was said concerning food? Miqsam said: O Abu ‘Abdullah, tell those who have not heard. He said: Ibn 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "When food is served, do not eat from the middle, for the blessing (barakah) descends in the middle of it; eat from the edges (or the sides).”
