I heard Hisham bin Hakeem reciting Sooratul-Furqan in prayer in a manner other than I recited it, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had taught it to me. I caught him by his garment and brought him to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) , and said: O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), I heard this man reciting Sooratul Furqan in a manner other than you taught it to me. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Recite it.” He recited it in the manner in which I had heard him recite, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Thus it was revealed.” Then he said to me: "Recite it.” So I recited it and he said: “Thus it was revealed. This Qur"an has been revealed in seven modes of recitation, so recite whatever is easy for you."
