It was narrated from Kuraib, the freed slave of Ibn 'Abbas, that 'Abdullah bin ‘Abbas (رضي الله عنه) told him that he stayed overnight with Maimoonah, the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ) , who was his maternal aunt. He said:
I lay crosswise on the bed and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and his wife lay lengthwise on it. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) slept until halfway through the night or a little before that or a little after it. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sat up, wiping the sleep from his face with his hand, then he recited the last ten verses of Soorah Al ‘Imran. Then he got up and went to a waterskin that was hanging there, and did wudoo’ from it, doing wudoo’ properly, then he stood and prayed. Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said: Then I got up and did the same as he had done, and I went and stood beside him. He put his right hand on my head and took hold of my right ear and twisted it. Then he prayed two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then he prayed Witr, Then he lay down until the mu'adhdhin came to him. Then he got up and prayed two brief rak'ahs, then he went out and prayed Fajr.
