Musnad Ahmed

25. 'Musnad of ''Abdullah bin al-''Abbas bin ''Abdul-Muttalib from the Prophet'

مسند احمد

2184

Saheeh; this is a hasan isnad)

It was narrated that 'Abdur-Rahman bin Wa'Iah said:

I asked Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنه): We live in a land where there are vineyards, most of the produce of which is used for wine. He said: A man from Daws came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) with a skin full of wine as a gift for him. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to him: "Don't you know that Allah has forbidden it since you last came?" The owner of the wineskin turned to someone else who was with him and told him to do something. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "What you tell him to do?" He said: To sell it. He said: "Don't you know that the One Who forbade drinking it also forbade selling it and consuming its price?" So he told him to pour away what was in the skin.
