حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ قَالَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ ‏‏ هَذَا جِبْرِيلُ آخِذٌ بِرَأْسِ فَرَسِهِ عَلَيْهِ أَدَاةُ الْحَرْبِ ‏"‏‏‏
Narrated Ibn `Abbas:
On the day of Uhud. the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "This is Gabriel holding the head of his horse and equipped with war material.'

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُقَاتِلٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ لَمْ تَكُنْ تُقْطَعُ يَدُ السَّارِقِ فِي أَدْنَى مِنْ حَجَفَةٍ أَوْ تُرْسٍ، كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا ذُو ثَمَنٍ‏.‏ رَوَاهُ وَكِيعٌ وَابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ عَنْ هِشَامٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ مُرْسَلاً‏.‏
Narrated `Aisha:
A thief's hand was not cut off for stealing something cheaper than a Hajafa or a Turs (two kinds of shields), each of which was worth a (respectable) price.

حَدَّثَنِي يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، قَالَ هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ـ رضى الله عنها ـ قَالَتْ لَمْ تُقْطَعْ يَدُ سَارِقٍ عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي أَدْنَى مِنْ ثَمَنِ الْمِجَنِّ، تُرْسٍ أَوْ حَجَفَةٍ، وَكَانَ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا ذَا ثَمَنٍ‏.‏
Narrated `Aisha:
A thief's hand was not cut off for stealing something worth less than the price of a shield, whether a Turs or Hajafa (two kinds of shields), each of which was worth a (respectable) price.

حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ الْعَمِّيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ أَبُو زُكَيْرٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْعَلاَءَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، يُحَدِّثُ بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ وَقَالَ ‏‏ آيَةُ الْمُنَافِقِ ثَلاَثٌ وَإِنْ صَامَ وَصَلَّى وَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ مُسْلِمٌ ‏"‏ ‏‏
Uqba b. Mukarram al-'Ami reported that he heard 'Ala' b. 'Abdur-Rahman narrating this hadith with this chain of transmitters and he said:
Three are the signs of a hypocrite, even if he observed fast and prayed and asserted that he was a Muslim.

وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو نَصْرٍ التَّمَّارُ، وَعَبْدُ الأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ يَحْيَى بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْعَلاَءِ ذَكَرَ فِيهِ ‏‏ وَإِنْ صَامَ وَصَلَّى وَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ مُسْلِمٌ ‏"‏ ‏‏
It is reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) made observations like them embodied in the hadith narrated by Yahya b. Muhammad on the authority of 'Ala', and added to it:
even if he observed fast and prayed and asserted that he was a Muslim.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ ‏‏ إِذَا كَفَّرَ الرَّجُلُ أَخَاهُ فَقَدْ بَاءَ بِهَا أَحَدُهُمَا ‏"‏ ‏‏
It is reported on the authority of Ibn 'Umar that the Apostle (ﷺ) observed:
When a man calls his brother an unbeliever, it returns (at least) to one of them.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَتْنِي أُنَيْسَةُ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَعِيدٍ بِنْتِ مُرَّةَ الْفِهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهَا، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم‏:‏ أَنَا وَكَافِلُ الْيَتِيمِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ كَهَاتَيْنِ، أَوْ كَهَذِهِ مِنْ هَذِهِ‏.‏ شَكَّ سُفْيَانُ فِي الْوُسْطَى وَالَّتِي تَلِي الإِبْهَامَ‏.‏
Umm Sa'id bint Murra al-Fihri related from her father that the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I and the guardian of an orphan will be in the Garden like these two." (His two fingers)

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، قَالَ‏:‏ أَخْبَرَنَا مَنْصُورٌ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، أَنَّ يَتِيمًا كَانَ يَحْضُرُ طَعَامَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، فَدَعَا بِطَعَامٍ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ، فَطَلَبَ يَتِيمَهُ فَلَمْ يَجِدْهُ، فَجَاءَ بَعْدَ مَا فَرَغَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ، فَدَعَا لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ بِطَعَامٍ، لَمْ يَكُنْ عِنْدَهُمْ، فَجَاءَه بِسَوِيقٍ وَعَسَلٍ، فَقَالَ‏:‏ دُونَكَ هَذَا، فَوَاللَّهِ مَا غُبِنْتَ يَقُولُ الْحَسَنُ‏:‏ وَابْنُ عُمَرَ وَاللَّهِ مَا غُبِنَ‏.‏
Al-Hasan reported that an orphan used to eat with Ibn 'Umar. One day he called for food and looked for this orphan but could not find him. He arrived after Ibn 'Umar had finished. Ibn 'Umar called for more food to be brought to him but they did not have any. So he was brought sawiq and honey. He said, "Here, have this! By Allah, you have not been cheated!" Al-Hasan said, "By Allah, Ibn 'Umar was not cheated!"
