Sahih Muslimحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاَءِ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ طَارِقٍ، حَدَّثَنِي رِبْعِيُّ بْنُ حِرَاشٍ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم . بِمِثْلِهِ .
Hudhaifa reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said like this.

An Nasaiأَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ بْنِ مُسَاوِرٍ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ مَرْوَانَ أَبِي لُبَابَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَصُومُ حَتَّى نَقُولَ مَا يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُفْطِرَ وَيُفْطِرُ حَتَّى نَقُولَ مَا يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَصُومَ .
It was narrated that 'Aishah said:
"The Messenger of Allah used to fast until we said: 'He does not want to break his fast.' And he used not to fast until we said: 'He does not want to fast."'

An Nasaiأَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ عَنْ صِيَامِ النَّبِيِّ، صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَتْ كَانَ يَصُومُ حَتَّى نَقُولَ قَدْ صَامَ وَيُفْطِرُ حَتَّى نَقُولَ قَدْ أَفْطَرَ وَمَا صَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم شَهْرًا كَامِلاً مُنْذُ قَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ إِلاَّ رَمَضَانَ .
It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin Shaqiq said:
"I asked 'Aishah about the fasting of the Messenger of Allah. She said: "The Messenger of Allah used to fast until we said: He is going to (continue to) fast, and he used not to fast until we said: He is not going to, and he did not fast for a whole month from the time he came to Al-Madinah, apart from Ramadan."'

Abu Dawoodحَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِمَعْنَاهُ . زَادَ كَانَ يَصُومُهُ إِلاَّ قَلِيلاً بَلْ كَانَ يَصُومُهُ كُلَّهُ .
The tradition mentioned above has alos been transmitted by Abu Hurairah through a different chain of narrators to the same effect. This version adds:
He would fast all but a little of Sha'ban, rather he used to fast the whole of Sha'ban.

Aishah narrated:
"The Prophet used to try to fast on Mondays and Thursdays."

Abu Hurairah narrated that:
the Messenger of Allah said: "Deeds are presented on Monday and Thursday, and I love that my deeds be presented while I am fasting."

It was narrated that "Aishah said:
"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) applied kohl to his eyes while he was fasting."

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
"The cupper and the one for whom cupping is done both break their fast."

Musnad AhmedIt was narrated that "Amr bin Sufyan said:
A man gave a speech when ‘Ali (رضي الله عنه) prevailed on the day of Basrah, and ‘Ali said: This speaker does not know what he is talking about. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came first, Abu Bakr came second and "Umar came third. Then we got involved in turmoil after they were gone, and Allah will judge concerning it as He wills.

It was said to ‘Ali and Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنهما) on the day of Badr. Jibreel is with one of you and Mika"eel is with the other, and Israfeel, a mighty angel, is present at the fight - or he said, is present in the ranks.

Riyad us Saliheenوعن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما أنه دفع مع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يوم عرفة فسمع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وراءه زجراً شديداً وضرباً وصوتاً للإبل، فأشار بسوطه إليهم وقال: “أيها الناس عليكم بالسكينة فإن البر ليس بالإيضاع ((رواه البخاري، وروى مسلم بعضه))."
Ibn 'Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported:
I accompanied the Prophet (ﷺ) while we were returning from 'Arafat. Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) heard behind him a loud noise of beating and of driving the camels forcibly. He pointed towards it with his whip and said, "O people! Proceed calmly. No virtue lies in rushing."
