Abu Dawoodحَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، بِمَعْنَاهُ قَالَ عَرِّفْهَا حَوْلاً " وَقَالَ ثَلاَثَ مِرَارٍ قَالَ فَلاَ أَدْرِي قَالَ لَهُ ذَلِكَ فِي سَنَةٍ أَوْ فِي ثَلاَثِ سِنِينَ
The aforesaid tradition has also been transmitted by Shu'bah through a different chain of narrators to the same effect. The version goes :
He said : Make it known for a year. He said this three times. He said: I do not know whether he said "for a year" or "for three years" .
