Narrated Ibn `Abbas:
The Prophet (ﷺ) once passed by two graves and said, "These two persons are being tortured not for a major sin (to avoid). One of them never saved himself from being soiled with his urine, while the other used to go about with calumnies (to make enmity between friends)." The Prophet (ﷺ) then took a green leaf of a date-palm tree, split it into (pieces) and fixed one on each grave. They said, "O Allah's Apostle! Why have you done so?" He replied, "I hope that their punishment might be lessened till these (the pieces of the leaf) become dry." (See the footnote of Hadith 215).

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Seven people will be shaded by Allah under His shade on the day when there will be no shade except His. They are: (1) a just ruler; (2) a young man who has been brought up in the worship of Allah, (i.e. worship Allah (Alone) sincerely from his childhood), (3) a man whose heart is attached to the mosque (who offers the five compulsory congregational prayers in the mosque); (4) two persons who love each other only for Allah's sake and they meet and part in Allah's cause only; (5) a man who refuses the call of a charming woman of noble birth for an illegal sexual intercourse with her and says: I am afraid of Allah; (6) a person who practices charity so secretly that his left hand does not know what his right hand has given (i.e. nobody knows how much he has given in charity). As for this, he used not to take precautions to avoid (his body to clothes being soiled by) urine, and this one used to walk around spreading malicious gossip.' Then he called for a fresh palm-leaf stalk and split it in two, and placed one piece on each of the two graves. They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, why did you do that?' He said: 'Perhaps the torment will be reduced for them so long as this does not dry out.'" Mansur Contradicted him, he reported it from Mujahid from ibn 'Abbas but he did not mention Tawus in it.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas :
The Prophet (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam ) passed by two graves. He said : Both (the dead) are being punished, but they are not being punished for a major (sin). One did not safeguard himself from urine. The other carried tales. He then called for a fresh twig and split it into two parts and planted one part on each grave and said: Perhaps their punishment may be mitigated as long as the twigs remain fresh.
Another version of Hannad has: "One of them did not cover himself while urinating." This version does not have the words: "He did not safeguard himself from urine."

Musnad AhmedIt was narrated that Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas said:
When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to Madinah, (the tribe of) Juhainah came to him and said: You have settled amongst us; write it in a document for us so that we may come to you and you may grant safety for us. So he wrote a document for them and they became Muslims. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent us on an expedition in Rajab, and we were less than one hundred men. He ordered us to raid a clan of Banu Kinanah who lived beside Juhainah, so we attacked them and they were great in number. We sought refuge with Juhainah and they give us protection, but they said: Why are you fighting in the sacred month? He said: We are only fighting those who expelled us from the sacred land in the sacred month. And we said to one another. What do you think? Some of us said: We will go to the Prophet (ﷺ) of Allah and tell him. And some people said: No; rather we will stay here. I and some people who were with me said: No, rather we will go to the caravan of Quraish and intercept it. So we set out to capture the caravan. The way the booty was given at that time was that whoever took something, it was his. So we went towards the caravan, and our companions went to the Prophet (ﷺ) and told him what had happened. He got up angrily, and his face turned red and he said: "You went away from me together and came back separately? Those who came before you were destroyed because of division. I shall certainly send as the commander over you a man who is not the best of you but he is the most patient in bearing hunger and thirst." And he sent to us as our commander "Abdullah bin Jahsh al-Asadi, and he was the first commander appointed in Islam.
