Clarifying that faith decreases with shortcoming in obedience, and the word Kufr may be used with regard to matters other than disbelief in Allah, such as ingratitude for blessings and not fulfilling one's duties

باب بَيَانِ نُقْصَانِ الإِيمَانِ بِنَقْصِ الطَّاعَاتِ وَبَيَانِ إِطْلاَقِ لَفْظِ الْكُفْرِ عَلَى غَيْرِ الْكُفْرِ بِاللَّهِ كَكُفْرِ النِّعْمَةِ وَالْحُقُوقِ

وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ كُنَّا نُصَلِّي الْعَصْرَ ثُمَّ يَذْهَبُ الذَّاهِبُ إِلَى قُبَاءٍ فَيَأْتِيهِمْ وَالشَّمْسُ مُرْتَفِعَةٌ ‏.‏
Anas b. Malik reported:
We used to offer the 'Asr prayer, then one would go to Quba' and reach there and the sun would be still high.
