44. The Book of the Merits of the Companions

Clarifying the emphatic prohibition against killing oneself; The one who kills himself with something will be punished with it in the fire; And that no one will enter Paradise but a muslim

باب غِلَظِ تَحْرِيمِ قَتْلِ الإِنْسَانِ نَفْسَهُ وَإِنَّ مَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسَهُ بِشَيْءٍ عُذِّبَ بِهِ فِي النَّارِ وَأَنَّهُ لاَ يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ إِلاَّ نَفْسٌ مُسْلِمَةٌ

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ قَالَ ‏‏ أَسْلَمُ وَغِفَارُ وَمُزَيْنَةُ وَمَنْ كَانَ مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ أَوْ جُهَيْنَةُ خَيْرٌ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ وَبَنِي عَامِرٍ وَالْحَلِيفَيْنِ أَسَدٍ وَغَطَفَانَ ‏"‏ ‏‏
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
The tribes of Ashja', Ghifar and Muzaina and from the tribe of Juhaina they are better than Banu Tamim, Banu Amir and the allies of Asad and Ghatfan.
