26/1 Chapter: It is obligatory to perform Hajj, and its superiority.

عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عنهما قَالَ : كَانَ الْفَضْلُ بنُ العبَّاس رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ، فَجَاءَتْ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمَ، فَجَعَلَ الْفَضْلُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا وَتَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ، وَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ (ﷺ) يَصْرِفُ وَجْهَ الْفَضْلِ إِلَى الشَّقِّ الْآخَرِ، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ فِي الحَج أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا ، لَا يَثْبُتُ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ، أَفَأَحُجُ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ: (نَعَمْ). وَذَلِكَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ .

Narrated Abdullâh bin 'Abbâs

Al-Faḍl (his brother) was riding behind Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) and a woman from the tribe of Khath'am came and Al-Fadl started looking at her and she started looking at him. The Prophet (ﷺ) turned Al-Fadl's face to the other side. The woman said, "O Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ), the obligation of Hajj enjoined by Allâh on His devotees has become due on my father and he is old and weak, and he cannot sit firm on the mount; may I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet (ﷺ) replied, Yes, you may." That happened during the Hajjat-ul-Widâ (of the Prophet ﷺ). [2:589-0.B.]

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ (ﷺ) أَنَاخَ بِالْبَطْحَاءِ بِذِي الحُلَيْفَةِ فَصَلَّى بِهَا . وَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ابْنُ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ.

Narrated Nâfi'

'Abdullah bin 'Umar said, "Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) made his camel sit (i.e. he dismounted) at Al-Batha' in Dhul-Hulaifa and offered the Salât (prayer)." 'Abdullâh bin Umar used to do the same. [2:607-O.B.]

باب: قول الله تَعَالَى : ﴿يَأْتُوكَ رِجَالًا وَعَلَى كُلِّ ضَامِرٍ يَأْتِينَ مِنْ كُلِّ فَجٍّ عَمِيقٍ لِيَشْهَدُوا مَنَافِعَ لَهُمْ

26/2 Chapter: The Statement of Allâh: "And proclaim to mankind the Hajj (pilgrimage). They will come to you on foot and on every lean camel. They will come from every deep and distant (wide) mountain highway (to perform Hajj), that they may witness things that are of benefit to them.... " (V.22:27,28).

عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ (ﷺ) يَرْكَبُ رَاحِلَتَهُ بذِي الحُلَيْفَةِ، ثُمَّ يُهِلَّ حَتَّى تَسْتَوِيَ بِهِ قَائِمَةٌ .

Narrated Ibn 'Umar

I saw that Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) used to ride on his (mount) at Dhul-Hulaifa and used to start saying, Labbaik when the (mount) stood up straight. [2:590-O.B.]

عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ (ﷺ) حَجَّ عَلَى رَحْلٍ، وَكَانَتْ زَامِلَتَهُ .

Narrated Anas

Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) performed Hajj on a pack-saddle (of a camel) and the same Zâmila (mount) was carrying his baggage too. [2:592-O.B.]

باب: فَضْلِ الحَجِّ المَبْرُورِ

26/4 Chapter: The superiority of Al-Hajj-ul-Mabrûr (most probably means the Hajj which is performed with the intention of seeking Allâh's Pleasures only and is in accordance with the Prophet (ﷺ)'s legal ways without committing sins and is acceptable to Allâh).

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهَا أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، نَرَى الْجِهَادَ أَفْضَلَ الأَعْمالِ، أَفَلاَ نُجَاهِدُ؟ قَالَ : لا ، لَكِنَّ أَفْضَلَ الْجِهَادِ حَجُّ مبْرُورٌ).

Narrated Aisha

the mother of the faithful believers: I said, "O Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ)! We consider Jihad as the best deed. Should we not participate in Jihad " The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "No ! The best Jihâd (for women) is Hajj-Mabrûr. [2:595-O.B.]

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ (ﷺ) يَقُولُ: (مَنْ حَجَّ اللهِ ، فَلَمْ يَرْفُتْ وَلَمْ يَفْسُقُ، رَجَعَ كَيَوْمِ وَلَدَتْهُ أُمُّهُ) .

Narrated Abu Huraira

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Whoever performs Hajj for Allâh's sake only and does not have sexual relations with his wife, and does not do evil or sins then he will return (after Ḥajj free from all sins) as if he were born anew." " [2:596-O.B.]
