باب: مَا أَسْفَلَ مِنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ فَهُوَ في النَّارِ

70/1 Chapter: The part of the garment that hangs below the ankles is in the Fire.

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، عَن النَّبِيِّ (ﷺ) قال: (ما أَسْفَلَ مِنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ مِنَ الْإِزَارِ فَفِي النَّارِ).

Narrated Abu Huraira

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The part of an Izâr which hangs below the ankles is in the Fire." [i.e., the one who wears the Izâr (lower-half body cover) that hangs below the ankles (with conceit) will be in the fire of Hell]. (See Fath Al-Bâri, Vol. 12, Page 370) [7:678-0.B]

70/2 Chapter: The Burûd (black decorated square garments that are worn by bedouins) and the Ḥibar (a green garment made in Yemen) and the Shamla (a garment that is wrapped around the body).

عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قالَ : كانَ أَحَبُّ النِّيَابِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ (ﷺ) أَنْ يَلْبَسَها الْحِبَرَةَ .

Narrated Anas bin Mâlik

the most beloved garment to the Prophet (ﷺ) to wear was the Ḥibara (a kind of Yemenese cloth). [7:704-O.B]

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ (ﷺ) حِينَ تُوُفِّيَ سُجِّيَ بِبُرْدِ حِبَرَة .

Narrated Āisha

When Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ)-died, he was covered with a Ḥibara Burd (green square decorated garment). [7:705-O.B]

عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قال : أَتَيْتُ النبي (ﷺ) وَعَلَيْهِ ثَوْبٌ أَبْيَضُ، وَهُوَ نَائِمٌ ، ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ وَقَدِ اسْتَيْقَظَ ، فَقَالَ : ما مِنْ عَبْدٍ قَالَ: لاَ إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ، ثُمَّ ماتَ عَلَى ذلِكَ إِلا دَخَلَ الجَنَّةَ). قُلْتُ : وَإِنْ زَنَى وَإِنْ سَرَقَ؟ قَالَ : (وَإِنْ زَنَىٰ وَإِنْ سَرَقَ). قُلْتُ : وَإِنْ زَنَى وَإِنْ سَرَقَ؟ قالَ : (وَإِنْ زَنَى وَإِنْ سَرَقَ). قُلْتُ : وَإِنْ زَنَى وَإِنْ سَرَقَ؟ قَالَ : (وَإِنْ زَنَى وَإِنْ سَرَقَ عَلَى رَغْم أَنْفِ أَبِي ذَرٌ ) . وَكَانَ أَبُو ذَرِّ إِذَا حَدَّثَ بِهَذَا قَالَ: وَإِنْ رَغِمَ أَنْفُ أَبِي ذَرٍّ .

Narrated Abu Dhar

came to the Prophet (ﷺ) while he was wearing white clothes and sleeping. Then I went back to him again after he had got up from his sleep. He said, Nobody says: La ilâha ill-Allâh (none has the right to be worshipped but Allâh,), and then later on he dies while believing in that, except that he will enter Paradise." I asked, "Even if he had committed illegal sexual intercourse and theft " and repeated my words thrice. He also said thrice, "Even if he had committed illegal sexual intercourse and theft " and added, In spite of Abu Dhar's dislikeness." [7:717-O.B]

70/4 Chapter: The wearing of silk clothes (by men) and bedding thereof.

عَنْ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ (ﷺ) نَهى عَنِ الحَرِيرِ، إِلا هكَذَا وَأَشَارَ بِإِصْبَعَيْهِ اللَّتَيْنِ تَلِيَانِ الإنْهَامَ، يَعْنِي الأَعْلَامَ .

Narrated 'Umar

Narrated 'Umar that Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) had forbidden the use of silk (clothes by men) except this much, then he pointed with his index and middle fingers. To our knowledge, by that he meant embroidery. [7:718-O.B]
