مختصر صحيح البخاري

باب: التَّسْمِيَةِ عَلَى الطَّعَامِ والأكل بِالْيَمِينِ

63/1 Chapter: One should mention the Name of Allâh on starting to eat, and one should eat with his right hand.

عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَة، رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ: كُنْتُ غُلَامًا فِي حَجْرِ رَسُولِ اللهِ (ﷺ)، وَكَانَتْ يَدِي تَطِيسُ في الصَّحْفَةِ، فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ (ﷺ) : (يا غُلامُ ، سَم اللهَ، وَكُلْ بِيَمِينِكَ، وَكُلِّ مِمَّا يَلِيكَ). فَمَا زَالَتْ تِلْكَ طِعْمَتِي بَعْدُ.

Narrated Umar bin Salama

I was a boy under the care of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and my hand used to go around the dish while eating. So Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) said to me, O boy ! Mention the Name of Allâh and eat with your right hand, and eat of the dish what is nearer to you." Since then I have applied those instructions while eating. [7:288-O.B]

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ : تُوُفِّيَ النَّبِيُّ (ﷺ) حِينَ شَبِعْنَا مِنَ الأَسْوَدَيْن : التَّمْر وَالمَاءِ .

Narrated Āisha

The Prophet (ﷺ) died when we had satisfied our hunger with the two black things, i.e., dates and water. [7:295-O.B]

63/3 Chapter: Thin bread and eating at an eating table, (or a dining table)

عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ : مَا أَكَلَ النَّبِيُّ (ﷺ) خُبْزًا مُرَفَّقًا، وَلَا شَاةٌ مَسْمُوطَةٌ حَتَّى لَقِيَ اللَّهَ .

Narrated Anas

"The Prophet (ﷺ) did not eat thin bread, or a roasted sheep till he met Allâh (died) ". [7:297-O.B]

وَعَنْهُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، في رواية ، قَالَ : مَا عَلِمْتُ النَّبِيَّ (ﷺ) أَكَلَ عَلَى سُكرجَةٍ قَط ، وَلَا خُبزَ لَهُ مُرَفَّقٌ فَط، وَلاَ أَكَلَ عَلَى خِوَانٍ قَطُّ .

Narrated Anas

To the best of my knowledge, the Prophet (ﷺ) did not take his meals in a big tray at all, nor did he ever eat well-baked thin bread, nor did he ever eat at a dining table. [7:298-0.B]

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ قالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ (ﷺ): (طَعَامُ الاثْنَيْنِ كَافِي الثلاثةِ، وَطَعَامُ الثَّلاثَةِ كَافِي الأَرْبَعَةِ).

Narrated Abu Huraira

Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "The food for two persons is sufficient for three, and the food of three persons is sufficient for four persons." " [7:304-O.B]
