'While I was sitting with the Prophet (ﷺ) Abu Bakr came, lifting up one corner of his garment uncovering his knee. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Your companion had a quarrel." " Abu Bakr greeted (the Prophet ﷺ) and said, "O Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ)! There was something (i.e. quarrel) between me and the son of Al-Khattab. I talked to him harshly and then regretted that, and requested him to forgive me, but he refused. This is why I have come to you." " The Prophet (ﷺ) said thrice, "O Bakr ! May Allâh forgive you." In the meanwhile, Umar regretted (his refusal of Bakr's excuse) and went to Abu Bakr's house and asked if Abu Bakr was there. They replied in the negative. So he came to the Prophet (ﷺ) greeted him, but signs of displeasure appeared on the face of the Prophet (ﷺ) till Abu Bakr pittied ('Umar), so he knelt and said twice, "O Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ)! By Allâh ! I was more unjust to him (than he to me)." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Allâh sent me (as a Prophet ﷺ) to you (people) but you said (to me), 'You are telling a lie, 'while Abu Bakr (believed in me and) said (to the people), 'He has said the truth, 'and consoled me with himself and his money." He then said twice, "Won't you then give up harming my companion?" After that nobody harmed Bakr. [5:13-O.B]

Narrated Abu Mûsa Al-Ash'arî

I performed ablution in my house and then went out and said, "Today I shall stick to (or remain constantly with) Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) and stay with him all this day of mine (in his service)." I went to the mosque and asked about the Prophet (ﷺ) They said, "He had gone in this direction." So I followed his way, asking about him till he entered a place called Bi'r Arîs. I sat at its gate that was made of date-palm leaves till the Prophet (ﷺ) finished answering the call of nature and performed ablution. Then I went up to him to see him sitting at the well of Arîs at the middle of its edge with his legs uncovered, hanging in the well. I greeted him and went back and sat at the gate. I said, Today I will be the gatekeeper of the Prophet (ﷺ) " Abu Bakr came and pushed the gate. ' I asked, "Who is it?" He said, Bakr." I told him to wait, went in and said, "O Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ)! Abu Bakr asks for permission to enter." He said, "Admit him and give him the glad tidings that he will be in Paradise." So I went out and said to Bakr, "Come in, and Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) gives you the glad tidings that you will be in Paradise." Bakr entered and sat on the right side of Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) on the built edge of the well and hung his legs in the well as the Prophet (ﷺ) did and uncovered his legs. I then returned and sat (at the gate). I had left my brother performing ablution and he intended to follow me. So I said (to myself). If Allâh wants good for so-and-so (i.e. my brother) He will bring him here." Suddenly somebody moved the door. I asked, "Who is it?" " He said, 'Umar bin Al-Khattab. I asked him to wait, went to Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) greeted him and said, 'Umar bin Al-Khattab asks the permission to enter." He said, "Admit him, and give him the glad tidings that he will be in Paradise." I went to 'Umar and said, "Come in, and Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) gives you the glad tidings that you will be in Paradise." So he entered and sat beside Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) on the built edge of the well on the left side and hung his legs in the well. I returned and sat (at the gate) and said, (to myself), "If Allâh wants good for so-and-so, He will bring him here." Somebody came and moved the door. I asked " Who is it?" He replied, "Uthman bin ' Affân." I asked him to wait and went to the Prophet (ﷺ) and informed him. He said, "Admit him, and give him the glad tidings of entering Paradise after a calamity that will befall him." So I went up to him and said to him, Come in; Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) gives you the glad tidings of entering Paradise after a calamity that will befall you." Uthmân then came in and found that the built edge of the well was occupied, so he sat opposite to the Prophet (ﷺ) on the other side. [5:23-0.B]

Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar

An Egyptian came to him and said, "Do you know that Uthmân fled away on the day (of the battle) of Uhud? (Ibn 'Umar) said, "Yes." The (Egyptian) man said, Do you know that ' Uthman was absent on the day (of the battle) of Badr and did not join it? (Ibn 'Umar) said, "Yes." The man said, "Do you know that he failed to attend Ar-Ridwan Pledge and did not witness it (i.e. Hudaibiya Pledge)? (Ibn Umar said), "Yes." The man said, Allâhu Akbar ! " Umar said, "Let me explain to you (all these three things). As for his flight on the day of Uḥud, I testify that Allâh has excused him and forgiven him; and as for his absence from the battle of Badr, it was due to the fact that the daughter of Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) was his wife and she was sick then. Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) said to him, 'You will receive the same reward and share (of the booty) as anyone of those who participated in the battle of Badr (if you stay with her). ' As for his absence from Ar-Pledge, had there been any person in Makka more respectable than ' Uthmân (to be sent as a representative). Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) would have sent him instead of him. No doubt, Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) had sent him, and the incident of Ar-Pledge happened after ' Uthman had gone to Makka. Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) held out his right hand saying, This is ' Uthmân's hand. ' He stroke his (other) hand with it saying, 'This (pledge) is on the behalf of ' Uthmân. ' Then Ibn Umar said to the man, "Bear (these) excuses in mind with you. [5:48-O.B]

Sahih

Narrated 'Ali

Äisha was present there to whom she told (of her desire for a servant). When the Prophet (ﷺ) came, 'Aisha informed him about Fâtima's visit. added " So the Prophet (ﷺ) came to us, while we had gone to our bed, I wanted to get up but the Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Remain at your place ". Then he sat down between us till I found the coolness of his feet on my chest. Then he said, "Shall I teach you a thing which is better than what you have asked me? When you go to bed, say, 'Allâhu-Akbar ' thirty-four times, and-Allâh ' thirty-three times, and Alḥamdu-lillâh ' thirty-three times [1] for that is better for you both than a servant. [5:55-O.B]

Narrated 'Abdullah bin Az-Zubair

During the battle of Al-Ahzab, I and 'Umar bin-Salama were kept behind with the women. Behold ! I saw (my father) Az-Zubair riding his horse, going to and coming from Banî Quraiza twice or thrice. So when I came back I said, "O my father ! I saw you going to and coming from Banî Quraiza? He said, "Did you really see me, O my son? I said, Yes. He said, Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) said, 'Who will go to Banî Quraiza and bring me their news? So I went, and when I came back, Allâh's Messenger (ﷺ) mentioned for me both his parents saying, 'Let my father and mother be sacrificed for you. ' [5:66-0.B]
