তাকওয়া

The term taqwá comes from the Arabic root W-Q-Y from the 8th form verb, ittaqá "be wary, Allahfearing." Taqwa is cognate to the Hebrew term n17 tikvah ("hope"), deriving from the Semitic root Q-W-I.
